First Foods - Home-made Organic

Two weeks ago, Emberlyn ate her first food. It was super cute but somewhat dramatic!

I decided to make a weeks worth of food. My husband helped. We used greenbeans, apples, avacados, and sweat potatoes.

I followed the directions from this post on baby-center
http://www.babycenter.com/0_how-to-make-your-own-baby-food_1401482.bc

It was not hard.  :) The video was just what I needed.

I decided to start her on greenbeans. I thought it might be a good idea to get her used to these before something deliciously sweet like sweet potatoes. ;)

Here's a video of her first bites!

As a first time parent, the gagging and chocking sounds were a bit scary! Especially since I had never fed a baby before. She continued to gag every-time I fed her the following days. I fed her each food for about four days in a row before switching to a new one.  When I finally switched to sweet potatoes, the gagging stopped almost immediately! Apparently she loves sweet potatoes and does not actually care much for green beans. Go figure.

Here's a video of her first bites of sweet potatoes!

After two weeks, I fed her green beans again. Once again, she gagged and chocked in dramatic fashion. Such a cutie!

Just yesterday we took her to the beach. I bought an organic squeeze pouch from Target.
I took a risk and bought Mango which she had not had yet! I just hoped she would not have a reaction at the beach in front of all our friends. SHE LOVED THEM! Mangos are by far her favorite. It was so cute to watch her drink them like candy. She almost drank the whole squeeze pouch.

Our Precious Blessing

I have not blogged in quite sometime! First reason: my computer crashed so it was not possible. Second reason: I was pregnant and waay to sick and tired to feel like blogging! Now I have a nook so I can blog again ( very slowly).

I want to express the deep love I have for my baby, Emberlyn Grace. She is truly a gift. When I first found out I was pregnant it was exciting but I was also scared of dying in childbirth! : p I didn't know what to expect! Now I feel the full blessing of being Emberlyn's mom. I feel honored that God chose Adam and I to parent her. She is truly a miricle. A gift I am most thankful for.

She was born the day after Christmas following three days of labor. lol. Fun stuff! : p she weighed 7.8 lbs and was 19.5 inches long. She was a week and a day late.

Since I didn't get to blog sooner about her birth, I'll take this opportunity to make up for lost time! Here are some pictures :)

What's not to love!?
